Stage 1 - Upgrading the IT infrastructure
Overview:
Newport Mind is a mental health charity based in the city of Newport (Casnewydd) in South Wales, UK. We’re here to make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support.
Client Requirements:
Newport Mind’s IT infrastructure was very outdated and many of our computers were extremely slow. Our aim was to replace our old PCs and have a network set up for flexible working, allowing us to use our office space better, improve communication and improve information security. We also wanted the ability to work remotely.
Results:
Excellence IT staff worked hard to install our network by the tight deadline we had set leading up to Christmas 2012. Our own staff commented on how helpful they were during installation, and we continue to receive good support. We are more than happy with the consultation, installation, training and support that Excellence IT provide us with, and our network is enabling us to do all the things we had hoped for.
Stage 2 – Providing staff IT Training to support the integration of new systems
Client Requirements:
When Excellence IT installed our new IT system our staff and volunteers needed training to change from using Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2010. We also wanted to make the most of our network by using Microsoft Outlook to book rooms and share calendars. Many of our staff had never used Outlook.
Outcome:
Excellence IT delivered three days of training, each day covering the basics of using Microsoft Office 2010 and using Outlook for email and booking rooms. They brought their own laptops but configured them so that staff would be trained in using our own network and resources.
The training was well appreciated by our staff, who are now up and running with our new system, using Office 2010 and making the most of the shared Outlook calendars.
